Tuesday 16 June 2009

Hello world!

So it's Tuesday and i'm still feeling the effects of the weekend. It was my bezzy mates birthday on Saturday and needless to say, we were all a tad drunk. Actually, that's sort of the understatement of the century. It was sooo bad that I have actually declared my own abstinence against alcohol. No more poisoning my body with the intoxicating devil juice. Never again. None of my friends seem to believe me when I say this, but really and truly. Not drinking again. I have one friend who has promised to drink virgin cocktails with me on Saturday night though, so at least I know i'm not going to turn into a complete bore!

I've been feeling a bit "funky" for a while now (and not in a 'get down and boogie' way either). My body has gradually been telling me to slow down and that something was wrong, and finally it has given up the ghost. For those of you who don't know me too well, I am a bit of an ice queen when it comes to showing my emotions and most times it can look like i'm not caring about anything, when actually I have just been trying to deal with it on my own. The problem with that is that because I am holding it inside and not expressing myself is that alot of hurt and upset and suppressed emotion lays heavily inside me. I am aware this is a personal issue that I have to deal with (alot of it being misplaced pride) and the only way I can do that is by healing. This, I am praying about and allowing God to come heal me. So please keep me in your prayers. It's not going to be an easy task, but I know that I will be a better person for it.

Yay - my BFF at work (didn't have one until 10 minutes ago!) has bought me a gift.....RAINBOW DROPS!! Please see previous posts to understand what this means to me! I'm sooo happy right now!

Catch you on the flipside!

Ooh I've just found a packet of Hula Hoops in my bag! Score!!

I've not blogged in a wee while, so thought I'd open blogger this morning and gradually add to it throughout the day. The world has not been all hugs and puppies the past few weeks. Mainly due to stress at work. Gradually I'm beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel, which is great.

I was at a Christian Festival called Frenzy last weekend. It's an annual festival and the biggest Christian Rock Festival of its kind in the UK. It's held in Edinburgh (so right at my doorstep) and is completely awesome. There were 3 stages this year so bigger and better. My favourite Christian band, Starfield, were playing too so all in all an exciting day. To make things even more exciting, whilst I was standing listening to Jeremy Camp, I looked to my right and the WHOLE of Starfield were standing right next to me. So close I could smell Tim's (the lead singer) aftershave! Lush! I couldn't believe they were standing right next to me! Such friendly guys too. What I love about Christian events like that is that there are so many different types of people all under the same roof, all there for the one purpose. You have to wonder what the police and security were thinking to themselves at a festival like that. It's the only festival I can think of where there is no alcohol, no drugs, no fighting, no judging, where you get free hugs as you are leaving and it takes 10 hours to get out of the parking lot as everyone is being so passive and not able to decide which car should leave first! Completely awesome. I have to say that you could feel the Holy Spirit moving amongst us and was amazing to hear the different testimonies and seeing so many young people completely buzzing! God rocks!

I had to go to the nurse this morning to get some blood taken and she couldn't find my vein so was digging around in my arm for about 2 minutes trying to find it. Ugh the bruise is already starting to show and it's really sore to bend and extend. Not fun!

I'm meeting up with an old friend on Thursday night for a few drinks and i'm really looking forward to it! I've not had a proper catch up with him in so long (apart from seeing him in the street every so often) so will be good to finally get to sit down and banter a bit! Him, me and the guy I was staying with in Australia were best of friends through High School. Good times!

Ok, it's lunch time. What I thought was going to be a "throughout the day" blog has turned out to be "no work this morning" blog. I'm working late tonight, tomorrow and Thursday though, so I feel an hour of blogging is acceptable! Oooh I got a pay rise yesterday! Yay!

I have a photo for you all! I meet an old work colleague every week for lunch and we generally sit in the local graveyard (it's quiet and you get a seat). We have our own tomb that we sit by. it's a nice little sun trap. Here's a picture of the view that we get. See...you all thought we were being morbid...check this puppy out! Wish you all had that view for lunch times now, don't ya!?
